Part 3: Visualize Success
Motivation Monday: A Quick Read…There is a good quote in a book I am reading that says:
“While positive thinking doesn’t always work, negative thinking, unfortunately almost always does”
For those who haven’t read this book, go pick up Mind Gym by Gary Mack. All of us are athletes on the inside and this book teaches you how to prepare yourself mentally for all and anything that could come at you.
Many people underestimate the power of positive thinking. If you ask the best athletes, they all visualize their success. Whether it is the pitches that will be thrown, the speed of the game or the curves in the track, they all prepare mentally. If you are a business professional, you should be visualizing your sales pitch, thinking about the questions that could be thrown at you and visualizing the success you will have when the pitch is over; this will make you ready for the real deal.
Negativity and doubt can cast a shadow on an otherwise sunny day. The strong ones learn how to block that out and use positivity to break through. Next time you are feeling down or had a bad day here is a quick exercise:
• Take a second to sit down and visualize what a perfect day would entail. Go through every detail, who is there, what is going on, what’s the weather like?
• Then think of the happiest moment you’ve had in your life so far; an engagement, children, graduation, etc.
• Now pause, take 10 seconds to let it all sink in.
I’d bet $100 right now you are feeling a little bit better. I’d also bet $50 that you didn’t know you just meditated. ☺
• Now you must take the same steps to visualize what you are trying to succeed in. Your ball game this weekend, the presentation at work, the startup you’re launch and life in general. Visualize how you define success and never let that thought go.
The power of positive thinking allows you to visualize success. The more you think about it, the more inclined you are to do something about it.
Cheers to the new week. #MotivationMonday
